LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Roslyn High School Marching Band
upon the occasion of their second place finish at the US Bands New York
State Championship on October 19, 2014

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the dedi-
cation and commitment of our young people who distinguish themselves
through excellence in musical competition; and
WHEREAS, Music competition provides an opportunity for students to
exhibit their practical skills to an audience, thereby giving them a
sense of pride in their hard work and efforts; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Roslyn High School Marching Band upon the occasion of their second
place finish at the US Bands New York State Championship on Sunday,
October 19, 2014, at Mitchell Field in Uniondale, New York; and
WHEREAS, Talent, dedication, and teamwork have made the Roslyn High
School Marching Band the successful ensemble it is today; and
WHEREAS, The members of the Roslyn High School Marching Band show
outstanding commitment, participating in numerous music rehearsals and
practice sessions, fully aware that time and devotion directly affect
the quality of their music; and
WHEREAS, Each young musician in the Roslyn High School Marching Band
deserves individual recognition and applause for their remarkable disci-
pline and perseverance in perfecting their musical talent; and
WHEREAS, The administration of the Roslyn High School are committed to
actively promoting and nurturing a comprehensive music program for all
students of the district; and
WHEREAS, The Roslyn High School Marching Band's achievements stand as
a proud testament to the leadership of Band Director Pat Patterson, the
hard work of its members and the dedication of its parents, teachers,
administration and community-at-large, illustrating the spirit of excel-
lence and achievement which is Roslyn High School's hallmark and tradi-
tion; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Roslyn High School Marching Band upon the occasion of their
second place finish at the US Bands New York State Championship on Octo-
ber 19, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Pat Patterson, Band Director, Roslyn High School.
