LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Youth of the South End upon the
occasion of its designation for special recognition by AVillage, Inc.
on February 21, 2015 for all the work they did last summer

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Youth of the South End upon the occasion of its designation for
special recognition by AVillage, Inc. after all the work they did last
summer, celebrated at its 2nd Annual Celebration of Progress on Satur-
day, February 21, 2015, at the Downtown Holiday Inn Express, Albany, New
York; and
WHEREAS, AVillage Inc's. mission is to improve the quality of life for
residents of the South End in Albany, New York, and beyond, by reclaim-
ing our neighborhoods, by encouraging, engaging, and empowering our
communities; and
WHEREAS, As participants in the summer youth employment program, Isai-
ah Brown, Isabela Cabuhat, Kaneeff Dancy, Blamo Keta, Kameer Koonce,
Naa'ila Paige, Joyanna Salas-Richardson, Francine Williams, and Naquwan
Williams proudly contributed their time and energy on a history project
honoring the work and life of the late, great "Elder Jack Johnson," who
significantly helped with the migration of many African-Americans from
the cotton fields of Mississippi to Albany's South End; and
WHEREAS, With their sense of civic duty and their commitment to
others, these outstanding individuals represent the best development of
the potential which is inherent in our most precious resource, our
youth; and
WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to wish the Youth of the South End continued success throughout
their school years and beyond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Youth of the South End upon the occasion of its designation
for special recognition by AVillage, Inc. on February 21, 2015 for all
the work they did last summer; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the aforementioned members of the Youth of the South End.
