LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Allen R. Dunham, distin-
guished citizen and devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, It is with great sorrow and deep regret that this Legislative
Body records the passing of Allen R. Dunham who died on December 15,
2014, at the age of 78; and
WHEREAS, Born on July 15, 1936, in Hammond, New York, Allen R. Dunham
graduated from Hammond Central School in 1953 and was the Valedictorian
of his class; and
WHEREAS, He received his Associate degree in Applied Science, graduat-
ing with honors from Canton Agricultural and Technical College in 1955;
and
WHEREAS, Allen R. Dunham owned and operated his family's farm for many
years, retiring in 2011; and
WHEREAS, He was a lifetime member of the Hammond Presbyterian Church
where he served several terms as an Elder, and sang in the choir where
he was noted for his deep bass voice; and
WHEREAS, Allen R. Dunham was a member of the Hammond All Stars 4-H
Club and was responsible for the dairy judging programs for 30 years; he
was also elected to the St. Lawrence County Cooperative Extension Board
of Directors, serving as its President; and
WHEREAS, He was elected to the St. Lawrence County Legislature where
he served for 12 years, serving on several committees; he was also a
member of the Hammond Planning Board and the St. Lawrence County Soil
and Water Conservation District; and
WHEREAS, He will be a long remembered for his dedication to his commu-
nity and deep love for his family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Allen R. Dunham is survived by his wife, Catherine, son,
Richard, daughter, Megan, two sisters and two grandchildren, as well as
many nieces, nephews and cousins; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Allen R. Dunham leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Allen R. Dunham, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Allen R. Dunham.
