LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the National Baseball Hall of Fame and
Museum upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of the 2015 NBT
Bank Distinguished Business of the Year Award by the Otsego County Cham-
ber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who devote themselves to the welfare of
the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum upon the occasion of its
designation as recipient of the 2015 NBT Bank Distinguished Business of
the Year Award by the Otsego County Chamber of Commerce, to be cele-
brated at its Annual Dinner on Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Hunt Union
Ballroom, SUNY Oneonta, Oneonta, New York; and
WHEREAS, The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will receive
this prestigious award in recognition of its contributions in bringing
baseball fans from all over the world to Otsego County for its recent
75th Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Located on Main Street in the heart of picturesque Coopers-
town, New York, the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is one of
the country's major tourist destinations and is surely the best known
sports shrine in the world; and
WHEREAS, Opening its doors for the first time on June 12, 1939, the
National Baseball Hall of Fame stands as the definitive repository of
the Game's treasures and as a symbol of the most profound individual
honor bestowed on an athlete; and
WHEREAS, The Museum's collections contain more than 40,000 three-di-
mensional artifacts representing all facets of the game, from its incep-
tion in the mid-19th century, to the present; in addition, the insti-
tution's archives contain in excess of 135,000 baseball cards and three
million library items including photographs, books, magazines, newspa-
pers, films and audiotapes; and
WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission, the National Baseball Hall of
Fame and Museum, with its stories, legends and magic, preserves history,
honors excellence and connects generations; and
WHEREAS, The success of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum
is in direct correlation to the efforts of its administration and staff,
whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impres-
sive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard
of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the
community it serves; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum upon the occasion of
its designation as recipient of the 2015 NBT Bank Distinguished Business
of the Year Award by the Otsego County Chamber of Commerce; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.
