LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Roberta Byron-Lockwood upon the occa-
sion of her designation for special recognition by the 2014 SULLIVAN
COUNTY DEMOCRAT honoring Professional Women and Women in Business

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Roberta Byron-Lockwood has given not only of her time and
energies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Roberta
Byron-Lockwood upon the occasion of her designation for special recogni-
tion by the 2014 SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT honoring Professional Women
and Women in Business; and
WHEREAS, Roberta Byron-Lockwood holds a Master of Business and Public
Administration degree; and
WHEREAS, For more than 14 years, Roberta Byron-Lockwood has been an
employee of The Sullivan County Visitors Association and currently
serves as President/CEO; and
WHEREAS, Prior to her current position, Roberta Byron-Lockwood has
served the Association as New York State Deputy Director of Tourism, and
Executive Director of the Central Leatherstocking Region; and
WHEREAS, The most rewarding aspect of Roberta Byron-Lockwood's job is
with the Sullivan County Catskills tourism industry; the dedication and
determination of the businesses within the Catskills community keep her
energized and inspired to persevere in the industry she feels so
passionate about and continue her sparkling success; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Roberta Byron-Lockwood is thrilled with the
multitude of positive responses from visitors of tourism facilities and
publications; she was chosen as one of the representatives to attend the
White House Conference on Tourism, and more recently, was honored as a
Woman Who Makes a Difference; and
WHEREAS, Roberta Byron-Lockwood has also received several marketing
and program awards throughout her tenure in tourism including the New
York State Tourism Individual Achievement Award; and
WHEREAS, Active in her community, Roberta Byron-Lockwood is affiliated
with the Heart-a-Thon, Boys and Girls Club, and Rotary Club, as well as
many other vital organizations; in addition, she shares her time with
several community enrichment groups who strive to assist the quality of
life for Sullivan County Catskills residents; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Roberta Byron-Lockwood has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Herb, and their
three children, Matt, Kelley, and Chris, as well as her mother, all of
whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her
achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Roberta Byron-Lockwood upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the 2014 SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT honoring
Professional Women and Women in Business; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Roberta Byron-Lockwood.
