LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending The Honorable Vincent Prieto upon the
occasion of being selected as the 2015 Person of the Year by the
National Police Defense Foundation on May 6, 2015
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
The Honorable Vincent Prieto upon the occasion of being selected as the
2015 Person of the Year by the National Police Defense Foundation to be
celebrated at its Annual Awards Dinner at Russo's on the Bay in Howard
Beach, New York, on Wednesday, May 6, 2015; and
WHEREAS, A man of singular distinction, Vincent Prieto has continually
demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence and diligent
leadership in his unwavering service to his community and profession and
consequently has been designated for this most prestigious recognition;
and
WHEREAS, Born on September 11, 1960, in Cuba; at the young age of 11,
Vincent Prieto and his family immigrated to the United States; and
WHEREAS, Vincent Prieto earned a certification in Construction Code
Technology from Middlesex Community College and a Fire Code Technology
certification from Bergen Community College; today, he is a Construction
Code Official; and
WHEREAS, A true public servant, Vincent Prieto tirelessly advocates
for proper care and dignified treatment for veterans who fought for our
freedom; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Marlene, and his two
children, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and
rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate blend-
ing of strength, intellect and commitment as that demonstrated by
Vincent Prieto over a lifetime of sacrifice and dedication to others;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend The Honorable Vincent Prieto upon the occasion of being selected
the 2015 Person of the Year by the National Police Defense Foundation on
May 6, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Honorable Vincent Prieto.
