LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Pamela DeMan upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the 2014 SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT
honoring Professional Women and Women in Business

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Pamela DeMan has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Pamela DeMan
upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the 2014
SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT honoring Professional Women and Women in Busi-
ness; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua, New
York, Pamela DeMan received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work
and Spanish from Valparaiso University in Indiana, and a master's degree
in Social Work from New York University; she is also a Licensed Clinical
Social Worker in the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, For the past 25 years, Pamela DeMan has been an employee of
Family Focus Adoption Services, a private not-for-profit, full service
adoption agency, approved by New York State and the Hague Convention;
the agency's mission is finding forever families for older children in
foster homes and residential facilities; and
WHEREAS, As Adoption Specialist Supervisor, Pamela DeMan visits and
interviews individuals interested in becoming parents through adoption;
she helps them to understand the needs of the children, and whether they
are prepared as parents; in addition, she reviews home studies written
by workers throughout New York State; and
WHEREAS, One of Pamela DeMan's most satisfying aspects of her job is
making the future parents aware of the responsibilities of adoption
regardless of their marital status, sexual preference, financial posi-
tion, and health and well-being; and
WHEREAS, Active in her community, Pamela DeMan is President of the
Women's Community Club of Cochecton, New York, and Vice President of the
Cochecton Preservation Society; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband of 32 years, Bob,
and their two sons, Mike and Steve; two stepsons, Bob and Rick; two
stepdaughters, Stacy and Jen; four daughters-in-law; and nine grandchil-
dren, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice
in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Pamela DeMan has displayed through-
out her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Pamela DeMan upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the 2014 SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT honoring Professional
Women and Women in Business; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Pamela DeMan.
