LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Paul Wright upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the New York State Big Brother of the Year
Award by Big Brothers Big Sisters

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Paul
Wright upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the New York
State Big Brother of the Year Award by Big Brothers Big Sisters; prior
to this award, he won the 2014 Big Brother of the Year Award by Big
Brothers Big Sisters of the Southern Adirondacks; and
WHEREAS, Paul Wright is now a candidate for the National Award for Big
Brother of the Year to be announced in June of 2015; and
WHEREAS, For over a century, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated
under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed
and thrive in life; and
WHEREAS, As the nation's largest donor and volunteer supported mentor-
ing network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored match-
es between adult volunteers and children in communities across the coun-
try; and
WHEREAS, Paul Wright, a retired financial planner from Queensbury, New
York, became a Big Brother in 2009; he was matched two years later with
his current little brother, Chris Marzola, a Russian immigrant who has
faced many challenges in his short life; and
WHEREAS, Since being matched in 2011, Paul Wright has been an excel-
lent mentor, providing guidance and encouragement to help Chris Marzola
in all aspects of life; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Paul Wright has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Paul Wright has displayed throughout
his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Paul Wright upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the New York State Big Brother of the Year Award by Big Brothers Big
Sisters; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Paul Wright.
