LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Tops Markets of Derby upon the occasion
of its designation as recipient of the 2014 Large Business of the Year
Award by the Evans-Brant Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses which substantially
contribute to the economic vitality of their communities and the entire
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to honor those
businesses within the State of New York which distinguish themselves
through outstanding professional behavior, corporate innovation, and
enduring commitment to the community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Tops
Markets of Derby upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of
the 2014 Large Business of the Year Award by the Evans-Brant Chamber of
Commerce to be celebrated at its Annual President's Award and Recogni-
tion Dinner on Saturday, March 21, 2015, at the Pioneer Camp and Retreat
Center in Angola, New York; and
WHEREAS, Each year, the Evans-Brant Chamber of Commerce recognizes
outstanding individuals and businesses that have made extraordinary
contributions to both the Chamber and the community over the past year;
Tops Markets of Derby is one such business; and
WHEREAS, Tops Markets of Derby has significantly contributed to the
vitality of local communities, and has created and preserved thousands
of jobs; and
WHEREAS, Tops Markets of Derby remains true to its roots as a store
that has a passion for food and people; today, Tops retains the neigh-
borhood feel of the original family-owned grocery store; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body that when busi-
nesses of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges Tops Markets of Derby's success, recognizes its contributions to
the local and State economies, and extends its highest commendation to
the corporation and its employees, fully confident that, in its future,
it will enjoy the same success which has so characterized its past; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Tops Markets of Derby upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the 2014 Large Business of the Year Award by the Evans-
Brant Chamber of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Tops Markets of Derby.
