LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Thomas McCarthy upon the occasion of his
selection as Deputy Marshal of the 22nd Annual Bay Ridge St. Patrick's
Day Parade on March 22, 2015

WHEREAS, St. Patrick's Day is a time for people of all nationalities and
generations to assemble and celebrate the rich culture and heritage of
the Irish people throughout the United States; and
WHEREAS, A St. Patrick's Day parade reflects and records the ongoing
history of the United States and Ireland, and provides opportunity for
people of all generations to assemble in ethnic pride and pageantry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Thomas McCarthy upon the occasion of his selection as Deputy Marshal of
the 22nd Annual Bay Ridge St. Patrick's Day Parade to be held on Sunday,
March 22, 2015; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, Thomas McCarthy
is the son of Thomas A. and Bernadette (Dullea) McCarthy; his maternal
grandparents, Mary and Edward Dullea, were born in County Cork, Ireland,
and his paternal grandparents, Thomas and Helen McCarthy, were from
Brooklyn; and
WHEREAS, Thomas McCarthy attended both Our Lady of Angels Grammar
School and Bishop Ford High School in Brooklyn; prior to earning his
Master of Business Administration degree from Pace University, New York
City, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in both Anthropology and
Economics from Brooklyn College; and
WHEREAS, Thomas McCarthy holds Series 7, 27, and 63 licenses, and is a
Certified Financial Analyst; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Thomas McCarthy holds the distinguished position
of Vice President at JPMorgan, a position he has held for 37 years in
various departments; today, he is a Controller in the Transaction
Services business; and
WHEREAS, Active in his community, Thomas McCarthy is a former member
of Community Board 10, and Vice President of St. Anselm's Youth Activ-
ities for many years; he was also the President of the Cathedral Club of
Brooklyn, and is currently a Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy
Sepulcher of Jerusalem; and
WHEREAS, Thomas McCarthy is also an active participant in numerous
other organizations including the St. Patrick's Society of Brooklyn, the
Knights of Columbus (Dongan Council), the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick
in the City of New York, the Cathedral Club of Brooklyn, the Ancient
Order of Hibernians, and the Bay Ridge Historical Society; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Thomas McCarthy was previously honored as the
St. Patrick's Society of Brooklyn Irish Man of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Thomas McCarthy finds time to snow ski, golf, and run; he has
been a participant in the New York City Marathon 14 times, and will
attempt his 15th race in November of 2015; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, the former Mary
Casey, and his three children, Caitlin, Tommy, and Patrick, all of whom
feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achieve-
ments; and
WHEREAS, A fitting choice for Deputy Marshal of the 22nd Annual Bay
Ridge St. Patrick's Day Parade, Thomas McCarthy embodies the spirit and
the cherished ideals and values of Irish-Americans of this great State
and Nation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Thomas McCarthy upon the occasion of his selection as Deputy

Marshal of the 22nd Annual Bay Ridge St. Patrick's Day Parade on March
22, 2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Thomas McCarthy.
