LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Eileen Brett upon the occasion of her
selection as Deputy Marshal of the 22nd Annual Bay Ridge St. Patrick's
Day Parade on March 22, 2015
WHEREAS, St. Patrick's Day is a time for people of all nationalities and
generations to assemble and celebrate the rich culture and heritage of
the Irish people throughout the United States; and
WHEREAS, A St. Patrick's Day parade reflects and records the ongoing
history of the United States and Ireland, and provides opportunity for
people of all generations to assemble in ethnic pride and pageantry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Eileen Brett upon the occasion of her selection as Deputy Marshal of the
22nd Annual Bay Ridge St. Patrick's Day Parade to be held on Sunday,
March 22, 2015; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, for six years, Eileen
Brett was one of five daughters born to Mary and the late Stephen Brett;
and
WHEREAS, Eileen Brett's Irish roots are an immense source of pride;
her maternal grandfather was raised in Addergoole, County Mayo, her
maternal grandmother lived in Moorehall, County Mayo, and her paternal
grandfather's family originated and stills lives in Mullinahone, County
Tipperary; and
WHEREAS, For over twenty years, Eileen Brett has worked in the finan-
cial services industry; currently, she holds the position of Executive
Assistant in the Securitized Products Group of J.P. Morgan; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Eileen Brett has always found it
imperative to incorporate philanthropy into her occupation, working with
the Suffolk County Department of Social Services, Special Olympics,
Dress for Success, New York Cares, and the National Marrow Donor
Program; and
WHEREAS, In honor of her late niece, Samantha, Eileen Brett has served
as a member of the Board of Directors of A Mother's Kiss, a not-for-pro-
fit organization dedicated to assisting the families of childhood cancer
patients for 18 years; and
WHEREAS, Eileen Brett serves as Financial Secretary for both the Bay
Ridge St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee, and the Ladies Ancient Order
of Hibernians Division 22, as well as a member of the St. Patrick's
Society of Brooklyn; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her four sisters, Peggy,
Maureen, Patti, and Suki, three brothers-in-law, Jim, Danny, and
Patrick, and 11 nieces and nephews, Lyndsay, Courtney, Matthew, Marissa,
Tara, PJ, Erin, Kevin, Jacky, Stephen, and Johanna, all of whom feel
privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, A fitting choice for Deputy Marshal of the 22nd Annual Bay
Ridge St. Patrick's Day Parade, Eileen Brett embodies the spirit and the
cherished ideals and values of Irish-Americans of this great State and
Nation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Eileen Brett upon the occasion of her selection as Deputy Marshal
of the 22nd Annual Bay Ridge St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 22, 2015;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Eileen Brett.
