LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Anita L. McGlynn upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the 2014 SULLIVAN COUNTY
DEMOCRAT honoring Professional Women and Women in Business

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Anita L McGlynn has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Anita L.
McGlynn upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by
the 2014 SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT honoring Professional Women and Women
in Business; and
WHEREAS, Anita L. McGlynn holds an associate's degree from Ulster
County Community College, as well as a bachelor's degree and master's
degree, both from SUNY New Paltz; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Anita L. McGlynn is a Certified Academic Nurse
Educator and Certified OASIS Specialist-Clinical; and
WHEREAS, For the past two years, Anita L. McGlynn has been an employee
of Sullivan County Community College as Chair of the Health Science
Division and Director of the Nursing Program; she oversees the Respir-
atory Care and Medical Assisting and Nursing programs; and
WHEREAS, One of Anita L. McGlynn's most rewarding aspects of her job
is her daily contact with students; her student successes are the
moments she lives for; and
WHEREAS, Anita L. McGlynn's wisdom and leadership, including rewriting
the curriculum, led the Class of 2014 nursing graduates to achieving a
100 percent pass rate on the National Licensing Exam for Nurses in the
United States, which was a 37 percent improvement; and
WHEREAS, Active in her community, Anita L. McGlynn and her husband
organize a team every year to participate in the Making Strides Walk,
raising money to benefit breast cancer research; the team is made up of
students, faculty, friends, and family; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband of 38 years, Alan,
and their two sons, Adam and Patrick, as well as six grandchildren, all
of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her
achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Anita L. McGlynn has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Anita L. McGlynn upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the 2014 SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT honoring
Professional Women and Women in Business; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Anita L. McGlynn.
