LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Carol Burris upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Education Partner Award by Nassau BOCES

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in this great
State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Carol Burris upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Education Partner Award by Nassau BOCES; and
WHEREAS, This most auspicious occasion will be celebrated at the
Nassau BOCES Educational Foundation's Education Partner Awards Gala on
Wednesday, March 25, 2015; and
WHEREAS, True to its mission, changing lives and shaping the future,
Nassau BOCES partners with school districts in providing leadership and
the highest quality educational and support services; this vital organ-
ization is committed to ensuring a successful, challenging, caring and
safe environment which enables students of all ages and abilities to
achieve their maximum potential; and
WHEREAS, The Education Partner Award recognizes those individuals or
organizations that have made a substantial impact on public education in
Nassau County; and
WHEREAS, The future success of our State and Nation is dependent upon
individuals such as Carol Burris, Principal of South Side High School of
Rockville Centre Union Free School District, who dedicate their lives as
educators, nurturing our most precious resource, our youth; and
WHEREAS, The result of many individual efforts, the excellence and
success of South Side High School is due in large part to the efforts of
Carol Burris; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her career thus far, Carol Burris has brought an
uncompromising standard of excellence to her work and a warm sense of
caring and concern to every young person she educates; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support our proud tradition of
public education by providing their skills and talents to our schools;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Carol Burris upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Education Partner Award by Nassau BOCES; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Carol Burris.
