LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Frank J. Pullano, distin-
guished citizen and devoted member of his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Frank J. Pullano of Geneva, New York, died on Friday, Febru-
ary 12th, 2016, at the age of 86; and
WHEREAS, Born on February 23rd, 1929, Frank J. Pullano was the son of
Rosario and Catherine Anne (Gaglianese) Pullano; as a young man, he
attended Geneva public schools and proudly served his country as a
member of the New York State National Guard where his military awards
included the Good Conduct Medal and the Meritorious Service Award; and
WHEREAS, After graduating from DeSales High School, Frank J. Pullano
began an illustrious career in the home improvement industry which would
last six decades; and
WHEREAS, In 1980, this esteemed man retired as the Deputy Public
Affairs Officer for the New York State Division of Military Affairs; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to helping others, Frank J. Pullano was a tireless
volunteer for the Geneva area, and earned the nicknames, "Mr. Geneva"
and "The Unofficial Mayor of Geneva"; and
WHEREAS, Frank J. Pullano's commitment to excellence, and his spirit
of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including char-
itable and civic endeavors; he served as Chairman of the Heart Fund
Drive, The March of Dimes and the Cancer Fund, and was one of the found-
ing fathers of the Geneva Junior League Football; and
WHEREAS, With a sense of civic responsibility, Frank J. Pullano acted
as co-Chairman of Geneva's Bicentennial and past President of both the
Geneva Chamber of Commerce and Geneva Growth; he also helped found Gene-
va Scholarship Associates, which has sent over 150 local students to
Hobart and William Smith Colleges since its inception; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Frank J. Pullano served on the Geneva Human
Rights Commission, the Smith Opera House board, and as original member
of the annual Lake Trout Derby; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, Frank J. Pullano was a member of numerous worthy
organizations including American Legion, Knights of Columbus, the Geneva
Country Club Hydrant Hose, Sons of Italy, the Military Officers Associ-
ation of America and the Disabled American Veterans; he also co-chaired
the successful YMCA fundraising drive that built the current facility;
and
WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous awards and honors for his outstand-
ing service, Frank J. Pullano was named 1980 Man of the Year by the
Geneva Italian Club and was presented with the New York State Liberty
Award from the State Senate, the President's Award from Hobart and
William Smith Colleges, the DeSales Alumni Hall of Fame Award, and the
Humanitarian of the Year Award from the American Legion Winnek Post 396,
as well as the Share the Light Award from Catholic Charities; and
WHEREAS, A man of many abilities and talents, Frank J. Pullano's
hobbies included writing, computers, photography, travel, fishing and
golf; he also wrote a feature column for the FINGER LAKES TIMES called
"Pullano's People and Places," and most recently wrote a column dedi-
cated to the honor of veterans called "Thank You for Your Service"; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his first wife Jeannie; and infant daughter,
Mary Frances, Frank J. Pullano is survived by his wife, Donna, his four
children, Russell (Susan), Frank (Lanice), Kathy (Ed), and David, and
two stepchildren, Melissa (Kevin) and James (Kyle); in addition he is

survived by his nine grandchildren, Reed (Lindsay), Mary (Sean), Hannah
(Chris), Antoine (Trina), Sarah, Nathan, Tica (Daniel), Jocelyn and
Jacob, and three great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, as well
as those who considered him a second father; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit, imbued with a sense of
compassion, and comforted by a loving family, Frank J. Pullano leaves
behind a legacy which will long endure the passage of time and will
remain as a comforting memory to all he served and befriended; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Frank J. Pullano, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Frank J. Pullano.
