LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating William Floyd Teachers, Anne
Ippolito, Luisa McHugh and Martin Palermo, upon the occasion of being
selected for the New York State Master Teacher Program

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late William Floyd Teachers, Anne Ippolito, Luisa McHugh and Martin
Palermo, upon the occasion of being selected for the New York State
Master Teacher Program; and
WHEREAS, These esteemed teachers are among the second class of 237
educators statewide to be selected for the New York State Master Teacher
Program, in which outstanding science, technology, engineering and math-
ematics (STEM) teachers are chosen and recognized for providing the most
innovative STEM education to their students, for their commitment to
professional growth and for their enthusiasm in sharing successful prac-
tices with their colleagues; and
WHEREAS, Anne Ippolito, Luisa McHugh and Martin Palermo join a network
of more than 550 STEM educators from across New York State to be recog-
nized with this auspicious title, and truly represent the outstanding
education that is offered every day in classrooms throughout the William
Floyd School District; and
WHEREAS, A Regents Earth Science and Environmental Science teacher at
William Floyd High School, Anne Ippolito has been instrumental in enabl-
ing her students to become effective problem solvers, while making mean-
ingful interdisciplinary connections between science, technology, engi-
neering and mathematics; and
WHEREAS, Luisa McHugh is a Living Environment teacher, both Regents
and Honors, at William Floyd Middle School; every day, she commits
herself to doing whatever it takes to provide each of her students with
the very best education possible; and
WHEREAS, A Regents and Honors Chemistry teacher at William Floyd High
School, Martin Palermo motivates and educates his students on the impor-
tance of science, technology, engineering and mathematics-related
careers; and
WHEREAS, Anne Ippolito, Luisa McHugh and Martin Palermo have contin-
uously demonstrated an impressive dedication, an unparalleled devotion
and an unremitting enthusiasm for the quality of the educational
programs and opportunities offered within the William Floyd School
District; and
WHEREAS, Teachers like Anne Ippolito, Luisa McHugh and Martin Palermo
provide a tremendous service to the future of our State and Nation,
inspiring generations of young people in their educational journeys and
ensuring their success in their future years; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate William Floyd Teachers, Anne Ippolito, Luisa McHugh and
Martin Palermo, upon the occasion of being selected for the New York
State Master Teacher Program; and be further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Anne Ippolito, Luisa McHugh and Martin Palermo.
