LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating William Menghini upon the occasion
of receiving the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout, the most prestigious
of Scouting honors, on May 21, 2016

WHEREAS, William Menghini, through his diligence and rigorous efforts,
has achieved Scouting's highest and most prestigious rank, Eagle Scout;
the Eagle Court of Honor ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 21,
2016, at Hamptons Methodist Church in Southampton, New York; and
WHEREAS, William Menghini began his trail to Eagle Scout as a Wolf Cub
with Cub Scout Pack 14 in 2006; upon earning the Arrow of Light Award as
a Webelos, he crossed over to become a member of Boy Scouts of America
(BSA) Troop 58 in Southampton, New York; and
WHEREAS, During his illustrious Scouting career, William Menghini
earned 43 diverse merit badges, and became a member of both the BSA's
National Honor Society and Order of the Arrow; he has also earned all
three BSA Catholic Religious Emblems through the Archdiocese of Rock-
ville Centre: Parvuli Dei, Ad Altare Dei and Pope Pius XII; and
WHEREAS, In addition, William Menghini has served in numerous leader-
ship positions with Troop 58, including his role as Den Chief, in which
he acted as a liaison between Cub Scout Pack 14 and Troop 58, and Patrol
Leader; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, William has attended numerous summer camps, and was
part of the Suffolk County Council, Trailblazer District contingent that
went to the Boy Scouts of America's National Jamboree in West Virginia;
and
WHEREAS, America has achieved her greatest heights of glory through
the dedication, determination and tireless efforts of the outstanding
citizens of this Nation; and
WHEREAS, It is only with the continued diligence and devotion of our
youth, tomorrow's leaders, that America will maintain her glory; and
WHEREAS, The Boy Scouts of America and its members are dedicated to
the development of character and leadership in the youth of this Nation;
and
WHEREAS, The highest achievement of leadership in Scouting, earned by
only five percent of all Boy Scouts, is the distinguished rank of Eagle
Scout; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding young man has been involved in Scouting for
many years, has lived up to Scouting's ideals and has attained all of
the necessary achievements, including completion of a community service
project, which was successfully planned, developed and executed; and
WHEREAS, For his Eagle Project, William Menghini built a Flag Dignity
Depository from solid mahogany for the Southampton Elks Lodge No. 1574
for the purposes of storing old, tattered, and damaged American flags
before they are taken to a dignified BSA flag burning ceremony at summer
camp, once a year; and
WHEREAS, A senior at Southampton High School, William Menghini will be
attending Sacred Heart University in Fairfield Connecticut, where he
plans to study Business/Finance at the Jack Welch School of Business;
and
WHEREAS, William Menghini's perseverance in rising through the ranks
to Eagle Scout is a strong indication of his ability to master difficult
tasks; his accomplishment will enable him to emerge as a leader, fully
equipped to meet the challenges of today's complex society; and
WHEREAS, This new Eagle Scout is a credit to his family, his school,
his community, his State and his Nation, and no doubt his future will be
filled with accomplishments of equal importance; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations, in
recognition of the significance of this meritorious achievement, to
congratulate and honor William Menghini on achieving the rank of Eagle
Scout; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to William Menghini.
