LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the Baldwinsville All-Star Girls
Softball Team upon the occasion of capturing the New York State Senior
League Championship

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice, teamwork and a dedicated coaching
staff; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize those
young people within our midst, who by achieving outstanding success in
athletic competition, have inspired and brought pride to their community
at-large; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State by instilling in them the value
of teamwork, encouraging a standard of healthy living, imparting a
desire for success, and developing a sense of fair play and competition;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to recognize
the Baldwinsville All-Star Girls Softball Team upon the occasion of
capturing the New York State Senior League Softball Championship on July
21, 2014, in Haverstraw, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Firebees, which includes players ages 13-16, advanced to
the New York State Senior League Softball Championship Tournament, after
defeating Wallkill in the semifinal games with a hard-fought 7-5 win;
and
WHEREAS, At the New York State Senior League Softball Championship
Tournament, the Baldwinsville All-Star Girls Softball Team faced off in
a rematch against Ellenville and won the New York State title by scoring
seven runs in the seventh inning to break a 6-6 tie; the final score was
Baldwinsville-Ellenville, 13-6; and
WHEREAS, This championship win marked the Baldwinsville All-Star Girls
Softball Team first-ever state title to its landmark district champion-
ship; and
WHEREAS, The win also helped the Baldwinsville All-Star Girls Softball
Team advance to the East Region Senior Softball Championship Tournament
in Massachusetts, where the determined team played close games but was
eventually defeated by Maryland and New Jersey, ending with an overall
1-3 tournament record; and
WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by the Baldwinsville All-Star
Girls Softball Team is due in great part to the efforts of Team Manager
Ray Grabowski, and Coaches Brett Naylor and Chris Young, skilled
instructors who have helped develop potential into excellence; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire 2014 softball season, members of the
Baldwinsville All-Star Girls Softball Team were loyally and enthusi-
astically supported by family, friends and fans from throughout the
entire community; and
WHEREAS, Members of the Baldwinsville All-Star Girls Softball Team
rallied behind one another in establishing a sisterhood of athletic
ability and good sportsmanship, demonstrating that these team players
are second to none; and
WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride and
accomplishment, and Coaches Brett Naylor and Chris Young and all of the
outstanding athletes have clearly made a contribution to the spirit of
excellence; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Baldwinsville All-Star Girls Softball Team; its
members: Hailey Akmentins, Mackenzie April, Serena Capsello, Gabriella

Hahn, Brittany Husted, Kenna Kelley, Jenna Kocik, Sarah Lalla, Jessica
Naylor, Sara Napelitano, and Christina Young; and Coaches Brett Naylor
and Chris Young on their outstanding season and overall team record; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Baldwinsville All-Star Girls Softball Team, Coaches Brett
Naylor and Chris Young, and Team Manager Ray Grabowski.
