LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Jeff Anastasia upon the occasion
of his induction into the New York State Basketball Hall of Fame

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those esteemed individuals who distinguish themselves through
exceptional performance, outstanding achievement, and peerless commit-
ment to excellence; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Jeff Anastasia upon the occasion of his induction into the New York
State Basketball Hall of Fame in Glens Falls, New York, on Sunday, March
13, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Jeff Anastasia, affectionately known to his players as Coach
A, is a graduate of Olean High School, where he has led the boys basket-
ball program for 29 years; and
WHEREAS, A talented young athlete, Jeff Anastasia was an outstanding
high school basketball player on the Olean High School Boys Varsity
Basketball Team; and
WHEREAS, Jeff Anastasia is widely regarded by players and coaches as a
passionate, dedicated and inspirational coach, leading the Olean Huskies
to over 525 wins in his 29 years as a coach, with an 80% winning record;
and
WHEREAS, Under his tutelage, Coach Anastasia's teams have been
successful in 18 League Championships, 11 Sectional Titles, five Final
Four appearances, and two State Championships in 2008 and 2016; from
2007-2016, his teams won nine of ten Sectional Championships; and
WHEREAS, Jeff Anastasia has been honored as Coach of the Year numerous
times; in 2008, he was named BCANY New Balance NYS Boys Coach of the
Year; in 2012, he was inducted into the Cattaraugus County Sports Hall
of Fame; he is also featured on the Olean High School Wall of Fame and
has been awarded the NYSPHSAA Section VI Coaches Sportsmanship Award and
the City of Olean Service to Youth Award; and
WHEREAS, This dedicated coach serves on both the Section 6 Committee
and the Big 30 Committee; he shares his knowledge and insight as a
speaker at basketball clinics and camps; and
WHEREAS, Jeff Anastasia has been an inspiration to basketball players,
their families, and the Olean community for nearly 30 years, and accord-
ingly merits recognition for his tremendous passion and competitive
spirit; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Jeff Anastasia upon the occasion on his induction into the
New York State Basketball Hall of Fame; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jeff Anastasia.
