LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Professor Thomas J. Lambert upon the
occasion of his retirement after 43 years of dedicated service to Sulli-
van County Community College
WHEREAS, New York State's commitment to education is unparalleled; its
history and stature are secured by the superlative caliber of its educa-
tional professionals and the students they inspire; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of those outstanding
educational leaders, whose dedication and achievements have been instru-
mental in developing character and academic excellence in the young
people of New York State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Professor Thomas J. Lambert upon the occasion of his retirement after 43
years of dedicated service to Sullivan County Community College; and
WHEREAS, Professor Thomas J. Lambert is certainly deserving of this
esteemed recognition; his perseverance, energy and expertise has helped
Sullivan County Community College (SUNY Sullivan) continue to fulfill
its mission of providing programs and resources that educate, inspire,
and empower students and the broader community; and
WHEREAS, For the past 43 years, Professor Thomas J. Lambert has been
teaching sociology as a member of the faculty at SUNY Sullivan; he never
considered his job as work, and dedicated his whole being to teaching
and being part of the lives of roughly 15,000 students; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, Professor Thomas J. Lambert has been
actively involved and energetic in his teaching which his students have
enjoyed and admired; and
WHEREAS, After a long stay in the hospital in 1988, Professor Thomas
J. Lambert continued to teach for 28 more years; his students motivated
him and acted as his very own diehard battery; and
WHEREAS, Today, Chair of the Board of Trustees, Russ Heyman, considers
Professor Thomas J. Lambert one of the most treasured faculty members at
SUNY Sullivan; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure, Professor Lambert has earned the admira-
tion, esteem and affection of all of his colleagues, and he has brought
an uncompromising standard of excellence to his work and a warm sense of
caring and concern to every young person he has educated; and
WHEREAS, Educators such as Professor Thomas J. Lambert provide a
tremendous service to the future of our State and Nation, inspiring
generations of young people in their educational journeys and ensuring
their success in their future years; and
WHEREAS, Professor Thomas J. Lambert has clearly had an enduring
impact on the youth of SUNY Sullivan, as well as on the community-at-
large, and accordingly merits recognition and applause for his impres-
sive dedication to others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Professor Thomas J. Lambert upon the occasion of his retirement
after 43 years of dedicated service to Sullivan County Community
College, for his significant contributions to education in New York
State, and to wish him continued success in all of his future endeavors;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Professor Thomas J. Lambert.
