LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Latino Alliance of Sullivan County
upon the occasion of hosting its 1st Annual Latino Cultural Heritage
Festival on July 17, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body, in keeping with its
time-honored traditions, to recognize and pay tribute to those events
which foster ethnic pride and enhance the profile of the cultural diver-
sity which strengthens the fabric of the communities of New York State;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to this concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Latino Alliance of Sullivan County upon the occasion of hosting its
1st Annual Latino Cultural Heritage Festival on Sunday, July 17, 2016,
in Monticello, New York; and
WHEREAS, Established in 2014, the Latino Alliance of Sullivan County
is a grassroots organization of individuals who come together to advo-
cate for services for the Latino community within Sullivan County; and
WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission, this vital organization serves
the community by providing representation, advocacy and referral with
regard to educational, legal, medical, housing, and other issues facing
Latinos in Sullivan County; and
WHEREAS, The Latino Alliance of Sullivan County also encourages Lati-
nos to become involved in their local communities and actively partic-
ipate in improving them; and
WHEREAS, Encouraging working towards English proficiency, the Latino
Alliance of Sullivan County believes assimilation into American society
while maintaining cultural distinctions and identity is possible and
beneficial; and
WHEREAS, Latinos of all nationalities in the United States have a
proud heritage, and have been, and will continue to be valuable contrib-
utors to American society; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Latino Alliance of Sullivan County is in
direct correlation to the efforts of its members, whose involvement is,
and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an
unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in
all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves;
and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Latino Alliance of Sullivan County upon the occasion of
hosting its 1st Annual Latino Cultural Heritage Festival on July 17,
2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Latino Alliance of Sullivan County.
