LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Three
Rivers Development Corporation on June 28, 2016

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 50th Anniversary of the Three Rivers Development Corporation,
to be observed at a Celebration on Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at the Corn-
ing Museum of Glass, Corning, New York; and
WHEREAS, Located in downtown Corning, the Three Rivers Development
Corporation is a private not-for-profit economic development organiza-
tion comprised of community businesses; and
WHEREAS, This vital Corporation diligently works to maintain and
promote the economic viability of the Southeast Steuben County area
through Board and staff service to the public and private sectors in the
fields of planning, housing, commercial and industrial development, and
community renewal; and
WHEREAS, For 50 years, the Three Rivers Development Corporation has
strived to promote and provide employment opportunities; carry on
research for the purpose of aiding the community in monitoring and
attracting an industrial base; lessen the burden of government; acquire,
construct, and/or rehabilitate facilities for the purpose of promoting
housing, economic growth, and business prosperity; interface with commu-
nity service organizations and create an environment for investment in
the Corning community; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the years, the Three Rivers Development Corpo-
ration has strategically planned numerous economic and industrial devel-
opment initiatives in its community such as intown/downtown projects and
business development support, and actively works with community leaders
within the Bath, Corning, Big Flats, Horseheads and Watkins Glen areas
of the Southern Tier of New York; and
WHEREAS, The Three Rivers Development Corporation's dedicated and
professional staff are led by a Board of Directors comprised of 35 busi-
ness leaders that have community influence, patience, and perseverance
toward its corporate goals; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of President, Betsey Hale, the
Three Rivers Development Corporation continues to maintain and promote
the economic viability of the Southeast Steuben County area; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those organiza-
tions which enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and
have shown long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have
earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Three Rivers Development Corpo-
ration on June 28, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Betsey Hale, President, Three Rivers Development Corporation.
