LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the Rye High School Boys Club
Rugby Team, Director of Rugby Jim O'Hara and Coaches Jim Rinaldi, Sean
Moughty and Blake Mannion upon the occasion of capturing the New York
State Boys Division II Championship

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, nurtured by
dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, The Rye High School Garnets Boys Club Rugby began the 2016
season playing in only its second year of competitive club rugby; and
WHEREAS, From the first team meeting held in February 2016, the Garnet
Rugby Team set as their goal to rise to the highest pinnacle of success
possible in New York State high school club rugby; and
WHEREAS, The Rye Garnets achieved this goal and captured the New York
State Division II Boys Rugby title by defeating the Saratoga Mustangs by
a score of 3-0 at SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Utica, New York, on June
5, 2016; and
WHEREAS, The Garnet Rugby players' record of athletic success began
with an undefeated record in league play and a championship win in the
Metro New York Division II playoff against Rockwaway on May 21, 2016;
and
WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by this team is due in great
part to the efforts of Director of Rugby Jim O'Hara and Coaches Jim
Rinaldi, Sean Moughty and Blake Mannion, skilled and inspirational lead-
ers, respected for their ability to develop potential into excellence;
and
WHEREAS, The team were loyally and enthusiastically supported by fami-
ly, fans, friends and the community at large, receiving a police and
fire escort through the streets of the City of Rye upon returning from
their state championship win in Utica; and
WHEREAS, Off the field, team members have proven themselves to be an
unbeatable combination of athletic and academic talent-exemplifying the
term: scholar-athlete-while also demonstrating outstanding dedication to
their athletic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition instills the values of teamwork, sports-
manship, pride and accomplishment; Director of Rugby Jim O'Hara, Coaches
Jim Rinaldi, Sean Moughty and Blake Mannion and all of the outstanding
athletes have clearly made a contribution to the spirit of excellence
that is a tradition of their school; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Rye Boys Club Rugby Team; its members: Johannes Alva-
rez-Rivero, Chase Bekkerus, Christian Biga, Samuel Bitran, Darrel Camer-
on, Ridgewell Clark, Simon Chait, Shane Concavage, Will Courtney, Micha-
el Davitt, Paul Devlin, Max DiMassimo, Jason Ehrlich, Ibrahim El
Shenawy, Dylan Fisher, Brendan Fox, Jack Goldstein, JP Hammer, Mikayel
Harutyunyan, Mohamad Hassan, Zeyad Hassan, Roka Hosono, JT Howard, Will
Junior, Cameron Kamer, Cameron Lawrence, Santi Mascolo, Walter Mason,
Felix Manjon, John McSweeney, Grant Meyerson, Daniel Millard, Stewart
Moore, Bert Oberlander, Reed O'Brien, Jacob Papparella, John O'Keefe,
Max Pollard, Ardian Prenga, James Pugliatti, Tyler Reno, Nicholas Roach,
Jason Rosendfield, Noah Sears, Danny Sheerin, Robert Talt, Will Steel,
Saba Surguladze, Alvaro Varela, Dom Weakley, John Weakley, and Wyler
Zahm; and Director of Rugby Jim O'Hara and Coaches Jim Rinaldi, Sean
Moughty and Blake Mannion on their outstanding season and overall team
record; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the members of the Rye Boys Club Rugby Team, Director of

Rugby Jim O'Hara, and Coaches Jim Rinaldi, Sean Moughty and Blake Mann-
ion.
