LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Opportunities for Otsego upon the occa-
sion of its designation as recipient of the 2015 Quality of Life Award
by the Otsego County Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who devote themselves to the welfare of
the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Opportunities for Otsego upon the occasion of its designation as recipi-
ent of the 2015 Quality of Life Award by the Otsego County Chamber of
Commerce, to be celebrated at its Annual Dinner on Thursday, March 5,
2015, at Hunt Union Ballroom, SUNY Oneonta, Oneonta, New York; and
WHEREAS, The leader in developing innovative solutions that promote
healthy lives, thriving families, and caring communities, Opportunities
for Otsego has been actively fighting the "War on Poverty" in Otsego
County since its inception in 1966; and
WHEREAS, This vital organization focuses its attention on specific
problems affecting the community, mobilizes resources, and creates
solutions to unlock opportunities for low-income individuals and disen-
franchised families; and
WHEREAS, Opportunities for Otsego has been instrumental in alleviating
poverty and fostering self-sufficiency through its comprehensive and
holistic client-centered services; and
WHEREAS, To encourage economic stability, social justice, and the
promotion of healthy lives and families, Opportunities for Otsego offers
several programs including early childhood, energy, health and nutri-
tion, housing and employment, and victim services; and
WHEREAS, The success of Opportunities for Otsego is in direct corre-
lation to the efforts of its administration and staff, whose involvement
is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an
unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in
all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Opportunities for Otsego upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the 2015 Quality of Life Award by the Otsego County Chamber
of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Opportunities for Otsego.
