LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Carol Blazina upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2015 Eugene Bettiol Jr. Distinguished
Citizen Award by the Otsego County Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, Carol Blazina has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Carol Blazina
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the 2015 Eugene
Bettiol Jr. Distinguished Citizen Award by the Otsego County Chamber of
Commerce, to be celebrated at its Annual Dinner on Thursday, March 5,
2015, at Hunt Union Ballroom, SUNY Oneonta, Oneonta, New York; and
WHEREAS, Carol Blazina has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Former President of the Foothills Performing Arts Center
Board, Carol Blazina has also served on the Town of Oneonta Planning
Board and, most recently, as the Secretary of the new Destination
Marketing Corporation of Otsego County; and
WHEREAS, In 2010, Carol Blazina retired from SUNY Oneonta after 40
years of distinguished service as a faculty member, administrator and
vice-president/communications; and
WHEREAS, A true community leader, Carol Blazina has made a long-term
impact on the region through her steadfast and unwavering commitment to
promoting Oneonta and bringing people together; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Carol Blazina has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Carol Blazina has displayed through-
out her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Carol Blazina upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2015 Eugene Bettiol Jr. Distinguished Citizen Award by the Otsego
County Chamber of Commerce, and to wish to her continued success in all
of her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Carol Blazina.
