LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Woodland
Hill Montessori School, in Rensselaer, New York, on May 2, 2015

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those institutions of true purpose and high achievement whose
exemplary programs and accomplishments clearly demonstrate an enduring
pursuit of excellence in the education of the youth of this noble Empire
State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 50th Anniversary of Woodland Hill Montessori School, to be
celebrated at a Gala on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at 90 State Events, Alba-
ny, New York; and
WHEREAS, The schools of a community reflect the character and values
of that community; the residents, school officials, parents, faculty and
students of Woodland Hill Montessori School, on the occasion of its 50th
Anniversary, take just pride in its history of quality in leadership,
teaching, achievement and community support; and
WHEREAS, Fifty years ago, in 1965, a small group of parents founded
the Montessori School of Albany, now known as Woodland Hill Montessori
School, in an effort to help develop the immense potential within all
children; and
WHEREAS, In the early years, the school provided pre-school education
for three- to six-year old children; in 1986, an elementary school was
established, serving children from the ages of six to 12; the middle
school was created in 2001, and a toddler program was added in 2012; and
WHEREAS, Currently, the Woodland Hill Montessori School is comprised
of 290 students ranging in ages from 18 months through 14; and
WHEREAS, The students at Woodland Hill Montessori School are guided by
specially certified teachers who use the well-defined integrated Montes-
sori curriculum and beautifully crafted interactive materials to foster
individual and cooperative skills in language, mathematics, science,
geography, and social studies; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous leadership of Principal Susan Kambrich,
the Woodland Hill Montessori School remains committed to the ideals of
its founding families to provide children with the foundation to be
successful students, to provide children with the confidence to ask
questions, and to instill in children the compassion and inspiration to
make a difference; and
WHEREAS, The Woodland Hill Montessori School's talented and inspiring
community of teachers continues to uphold Dr. Maria Montessori's maxim
that every child is a unique individual who needs to be respected,
admired, and unconditionally accepted as a precious gift of life; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is very pleased to have this opportu-
nity to salute the Woodland Hill Montessori School for its long history
of purposeful endeavor which has greatly benefited the community of
Rensselaer, New York, and to wish this worthy organization continued
success in future years; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Woodland Hill Montessori School, in
Rensselaer, New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Susan Kambrich, Head of School, Woodland Hill Montessori
School.
