LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Lee Stanton upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2015 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student
Excellence on April 2, 2015

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the ideals
and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Lee Stanton
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2015 SUNY
Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence celebrated at a ceremony and
reception held in Albany, New York, on Thursday, April 2, 2015; and
WHEREAS, The State University of New York is the largest comprehensive
university system in the United States, educating more than 468,000
students in more than 7,500 degree and certificate programs on 64
campuses, with more than 3 million alumni around the globe; and
WHEREAS, The Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence recognizes
students who have best demonstrated their integration of academic excel-
lence with other aspects of their lives, which may include leadership,
campus involvement, athletics, career achievement, community service or
creative and performing arts; it is the highest student recognition in
the State University of New York system; and
WHEREAS, Lee Stanton of Greenwood Lake, New York, is a 2014 graduate
of the University at Albany, with a degree in Political Science; and
WHEREAS, This talented young scholar has received numerous awards for
academic achievement; he has served as a member of the Student Associ-
ation and has served in several officer roles; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to giving back to his community, Lee Stanton has
been highly active in volunteer service organizations; he is the founder
of Project READ, which he created to provide weekly reading programs for
children; and
WHEREAS, Upon graduation, Lee Stanton bequeaths a legacy of academic
achievement, school involvement and community service to which others
may aspire; and
WHEREAS, Lee Stanton stands poised on the threshold of a broad and
challenging world; a testament to the love and nurturing care of his
family, friends and school; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved to honor Lee Stanton, a young
man and able scholar, recognizing the value of his labors and the prom-
ise of his future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lee Stanton upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2015 Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence, to commend him for
his outstanding academic achievement and to extend to him best wishes
for a future of purposeful success and well-being; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Lee Stanton.
