LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Anne B. McDonald upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the 2015 Liberty Bell Award from the
Essex County Bar Association

WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in this Nation, and the great
State of New York, are reflective of the purposeful lives and good works
of those patriotic and civic-minded community members who dedicate their
lives and careers to the service of others; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Anne
B. McDonald upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
2015 Liberty Bell Award from the Essex County Bar Association to be
celebrated on Friday, May 1, 2015; and
WHEREAS, The Liberty Bell Award, given each year on Law Day, which is
May 1st, by local bar associations, honors exemplary citizens within the
local community; the award recognizes outstanding service performed by a
non-lawyer citizen who volunteers their time and efforts to serve the
community; and
WHEREAS, Such service may include activities which promote a better
understanding of America's form of government, stimulating a deeper
sense of individual responsibility to the end that citizens recognize
their duties as well as their rights; and
WHEREAS, Anne B. McDonald graduated from Russell Sage College in 1958,
and followed with graduate work at Plattsburgh State and SUNY Albany;
and
WHEREAS, An outstanding educator in New York State for over three
decades, Anne B. McDonald retired in 1993 from the Ticonderoga Central
School District; and
WHEREAS, Anne B. McDonald is a member of numerous civic and profes-
sional organizations, and has served admirably in such positions as
President of both the Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary Educational Society and
the Ticonderoga Teachers Association; and
WHEREAS, In addition, this esteemed woman is a member of the Independ-
ent Judicial Qualifications Committee, and has worked as a delegate and
campaign coordinator/consultant on numerous political campaigns; and
WHEREAS, Anne B. McDonald has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; she is the former Board Chair of the
Hudson River/Black River Regulating District, and a member of the North
Country Community College Foundation Board and Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Anne B. McDonald has provided her support to
numerous worthy causes including the Heritage Museum, the Lake George
Association, and the Friends of Fort Ticonderoga; and
WHEREAS, Anne has been married to John C. McDonald, Sr. for more than
50 years, and together they are the proud parents of three children,
Mary Pat, John (Andrea), and Bridget (Donald), and the loving grandpar-
ents of four grandchildren, Elisabeth, Rudd, Meg, and Anna; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which this remarkable woman has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Anne B. McDonald upon the occasion of her designation as recipient

of the 2015 Liberty Bell Award from the Essex County Bar Association;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Anne B. McDonald.
