LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Welch
Allyn

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses which substantially
contribute to the economic vitality of their communities and the entire
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 100th Anniversary of Welch Allyn; and
WHEREAS, One of the medical industry's most pioneering firms, Welch
Allyn of Skaneateles, New York, is a global leader in providing medical
diagnostic tools which help healthcare providers overcome complex chal-
lenges and ensure better care for their patients; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable company was founded in 1915 by Dr. Francis
Welch and William Noah Allyn, two visionaries who together developed the
first hand-held, direct illuminating ophthalmoscope; and
WHEREAS, William G. Allyn, the son of William Noah Allyn, guided Welch
Allyn through the next five decades of technical advances, sales growth,
and industry recognition, using his outstanding business acumen and
personal skills while establishing a genuine and enduring company
culture; and
WHEREAS, Since this time, Welch Allyn has continually applied practi-
cal innovations and expanded into such areas as patient monitoring
systems, and miniature precision lamps in an effort to help doctors and
nurses improve patient outcomes; and
WHEREAS, Currently, this fourth generation family-owned business is a
leading global manufacturer of medical diagnostic equipment with over
2,750 employees working in 26 different countries; and
WHEREAS, Welch Allyn remains focused both on providing outstanding
service and products to its customers, as well as on developing tools
and technologies to best serve the needs of the healthcare industry in
the future; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional business and its contributions to the local and
State economies, fully confident it will continue to enjoy the sparkling
successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Welch Allyn, and to wish this
exceptional company all the best during the next 100 years; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Welch Allyn.
