LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Michele Carter upon the occasion of
stepping down as Director of the Warwick Ecumenical Food Pantry after
more than 25 years of invaluable service
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished citizens who demonstrate great courage and diligence
in providing for the care and welfare of the citizens of their communi-
ties and this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their exem-
plary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Michele Carter upon the occasion of stepping down as Director of the
Warwick Ecumenical Food Pantry after more than 25 years of invaluable
service, to be celebrated with an Open House on Saturday, May 16, 2015,
at the Warwick United Methodist Church, Warwick, New York; and
WHEREAS, With a true passion to help those in need, Michele Carter has
been involved in the work of the Warwick Ecumenical Food Pantry for more
than two decades, serving as its Director for many of those years; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of Michele Carter, the Warwick
Ecumenical Food Pantry has grown tremendously from a closet in the
Pastor's office, to a large room with shelving located in the Warwick
United Methodist Church, serving 250 to 300 families per month; and
WHEREAS, Through this expansion, more volunteers have come forward to
give of their time and energies, and the pantry now provides Christmas
and Thanksgiving food baskets, as well as a Christmas toy and clothing
collection for children; and
WHEREAS, As Director of the Warwick Ecumenical Food Pantry, Michele
Carter has been instrumental in establishing a partnership with St.
Anthony's Hospital and a delivery service for homebound seniors; she
also obtained a freezer to store meats, cheeses and other perishable
donations; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unremitting commitment to her community,
Michele Carter served as a foster parent for many years to local chil-
dren; furthermore, on August 22, 2013, she was crowned "Queen for a Day"
during the Warwick Merchants' Ladies Night Out; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her late husband, Charlie, with her throughout
have been her six children, as well as her grandchildren and great-
grandchildren, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and
rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Michele Carter has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Michele Carter upon the occasion of stepping down as Director of
the Warwick Ecumenical Food Pantry after more than 25 years of invalu-
able service; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Michele Carter.
