LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Dr. Young Kim upon the occasion of her
selection as the Rural Health Physician Practitioner of the Year by the
Rural Health Network of Oswego County
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those distinguished individuals whose professional commitment
and dedication enhance the excellence of health care in their community
and the great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Dr. Young Kim upon the occasion of her selection as the Rural Health
Physician Practitioner of the Year by the Rural Health Network of Oswego
County, celebrated at the New Provider Welcome Reception, on Wednesday,
May 13, 2015; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award is bestowed upon a direct service
provider who has demonstrated steadfast leadership in bringing health
services to the citizens of Oswego County; Dr. Young Kim is one such
provider; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Young Kim earned her medical degree in her home country
of Korea at Yousel University College of Medicine, Seoul; she completed
her internship at the Perth Amboy General Hospital in New Jersey; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Young Kim then went on to fulfill two residencies at
Misericordia-Lincoln Affiliation Program in the Bronx, and at Monmouth
Medical Center, Long Branch, New Jersey; and
WHEREAS, In 1982, Dr. Young Kim began practicing medicine in Oswego,
New York, and for many years, she held the position of Chief of Service
for Pediatrics at Oswego Hospital; in this capacity, she was a strong
advocate for the needs and care of her young patients and their fami-
lies; and
WHEREAS, Since then, Dr. Young Kim has had her own private medical
practice for more than three decades, providing care to the Oswego popu-
lation; and
WHEREAS, Known as a dedicated physician, Dr. Young Kim proudly makes
herself accessible to her patients and responds quickly to their needs
as well as routinely calls parents personally to discuss test results
and outcomes of office visits; and
WHEREAS, Parents of her patients find Dr. Young Kim not only know-
ledgeable and skilled, but also loving, extremely personable, and calm-
ing, all vital characteristics of an exceptional pediatrician; in addi-
tion, she is skilled at providing patients and their families with
education related to their illness or injury; and
WHEREAS, Outside of her practice, Dr. Young Kim is dedicated to the
well-being of her community; she has served as an instructor for several
programs including the Pediatric Advanced Life Support Program of the
American Academy of Pediatrics, American Heart Association, and Academy
of Pediatrics Neonatal Resuscitation Program, as well as the Advanced
Hazmat Life Support Program; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Dr. Soo Kim, and
their two sons, Dr. Albert Kim, and Jay Kim, Esq., as well as two grand-
children, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and
rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Dr. Young Kim has displayed through-
out her life; and
WHEREAS, As a leader in her profession, Dr. Young Kim has proven
herself to be a great asset to medicine and to the health and welfare of
the citizens of the State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Dr. Young Kim upon the occasion of her selection as the Rural
Health Physician Practitioner of the Year by the Rural Health Network of
Oswego County; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Young Kim.
