LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Jessica Lahr upon the occasion of
being crowned Mrs. New York America on October 26, 2014
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor today's young people, the leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements exemplify the ideals and
values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Jessica Lahr upon the occasion of being crowned Mrs. New York Amer-
ica on Sunday, October 26, 2014, at the RIT Inn and Conference Center in
Rochester, New York; subsequently, she will compete in August of 2015 at
the National Pageant; and
WHEREAS, Jessica Lahr outshined a multitude of beautiful women who
hailed from all over New York State; and
WHEREAS, A Prattsburgh Central School graduate, 29-year-old Jessica
Lahr moved to Geneva, New York nine years ago where she and her husband,
Chad, are the proud parents of two sons, Colby and Max; and
WHEREAS, Two years of exercise and a healthy diet led Jessica Lahr to
a new career in modeling; today, she models for commercial print and
video work, as well as charitable fashion shows; and
WHEREAS, An inspiring woman who lives by a pay-it-forward attitude,
Jessica Lahr is deeply committed to the Ronald McDonald House, due in
large part to her family needing to use its services in the past; and
WHEREAS, The esteemed title of Mrs. New York America bestowed upon
Jessica Lahr is due to her extremely hard work, staying true to herself,
and most importantly her love for people; and
WHEREAS, Jessica Lahr is grateful for her local sponsors including
Papillon Boutique, Accelerated Fitness, Isabella Spa, and Be More Than
Fit, whose support played an integral role preparing her for the
pageant, and today, continues to inspire her toward her goals; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her husband and two sons, Jessica Lahr was
loyally and enthusiastically supported by her parents, Chris and Bruce
Barrows, and her in-laws, Linn and Ed Lavin, as well as numerous family,
fans, friends and the community at large; and
WHEREAS, Jessica Lahr's sparkling success exemplifies the potential
inherent in our young men and women, who together with our children are
our most precious resource; she is an outstanding role model for her
peers with whom she works and stands with poise and purpose to face the
challenges of new experiences; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Jessica Lahr upon the occasion of being crowned Mrs. New
York America on October 26, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jessica Lahr.
