LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Great Lakes Recycling, Inc. upon the
occasion of its designation as recipient of the 2015 Small Business
Excellence Award by Operation Oswego County on May 11, 2015
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize those
small businesses within the State of New York which contribute to the
economic health and vitality of the communities they serve; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Great Lakes Recycling, Inc. upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the 2015 Small Business Excellence Award by Operation Oswe-
go County, celebrated at the United States Small Business Adminis-
tration's Annual Awards Luncheon on Monday, May 11, 2015, at the Double
Tree Hotel, East Syracuse, New York; and
WHEREAS, Every year since 1963, the President of the United States has
issued a proclamation announcing National Small Business Week, which
recognizes the critical contributions of America's entrepreneurs and
small business owners; and
WHEREAS, More than half of Americans either own or work for a small
business, and they create about two out of every three new jobs in the
United States each year; and
WHEREAS, Small businesses are selected for the Excellence Awards based
on their company's longevity, innovation, sales growth, increased
employment, ability to overcome adversity or community contributions;
Great Lakes Recycling, Inc. is one such remarkable business; and
WHEREAS, In 2008, Daniel Dorsey, Jr., Kevin Dorsey and Christian
Morgia established Great Lakes Recycling, Inc. when their family busi-
ness, Eagle Beverage, wanted to outsource the recycling part of the
business; and
WHEREAS, Great Lakes Recycling, Inc. is responsible for recycling all
glass and aluminum containers distributed through Eagle Beverage; the
aluminum cans are crushed, bundled and sent to Novelis Corporation to be
reprocessed into new beverage cans; and
WHEREAS, Great Lakes Recycling, Inc. continues to grow by taking on
new service areas, and recently, Dan Jr., Kevin and Christian assumed
ownership of Eagle Beverage when their fathers retired; and
WHEREAS, Small businesses such as Great Lakes Recycling, Inc. exert a
strong, positive influence on the communities they serve and are a
crucial element in the economy of New York State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges Great Lakes Recycling, Inc.'s success, recognizes its
contributions to the local and State economies, and extends its highest
commendation to the company and its employees, fully confident that, in
its future, it will enjoy the same sparkling success which has so char-
acterized its past; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Daniel Dorsey, Jr., Kevin Dorsey and Christian Morgia,
co-Owners, Great Lakes Recycling, Inc.
