LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 60th Anniversary of Two Bridges
Neighborhood Council and paying tribute to its 2015 honorees
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 60th Anniversary of Two Bridges Neighborhood Council, and to
pay tribute to its 2015 honorees; this auspicious occasion will be cele-
brated at a gala held on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at the Manny Cantor
Center, New York, New York; and
WHEREAS, The 2015 honorees include Thomas L. Hill, Senior Vice Presi-
dent of Boston Properties; the Settlement Housing Fund; and Natalie
Weinthal, Executive Vice President, Grenadier Realty Corp; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1955, Two Bridges Neighborhood Council has
played a critical and productive role in helping its diverse and ever
changing Lower East Side community develop and grow while acting with
great sensitivity towards the needs of its large working-class and low
and moderate income individuals and families; and
WHEREAS, As the Lower East Side has evolved over the years so too has
the mission of the Two Bridges Neighborhood Council; and
WHEREAS, Originally established to manage tensions in a changing area,
Two Bridges Neighborhood Council soon turned its greater energies
towards community planning; and
WHEREAS, Over the years, this esteemed organization has continuously
strived to maintain and expand affordable housing while delivering the
necessary services residents need to prosper and thrive; and
WHEREAS, Today, Two Bridges Neighborhood Council continues to provide
neighborhood based programs, and partners with numerous local organiza-
tions to help ensure the economic and cultural vitality of its Lower
East Side community; and
WHEREAS, The success of Two Bridges Neighborhood Council is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its members, whose involvement is, and
always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeav-
ors on behalf of the organization and the residents of the community it
serves; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Two Bridges Neighbor-
hood Council; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Two Bridges Neighborhood Council,
and to pay tribute to its 2015 honorees; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Two Bridges Neighborhood Council, and the aforementioned
honorees.
