LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Chinatown Partnership Local Devel-
opment Corporation upon the occasion of celebrating its 8th Annual Bene-
fit and Award Gala, and paying tribute to this year's honorees

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Chinatown Partnership Local Development Corporation upon the occa-
sion of celebrating its 8th Annual Benefit and Award Gala, and to pay
tribute to this year's honorees; and
WHEREAS, The 2015 honorees include Jay Hershenson, Senior Vice Chan-
cellor for University Relations, The City University of New York; David
J. Louie, President, David J. Louie, Inc.; and the Wong Family Benevo-
lent Association; and
WHEREAS, The Chinatown Partnership Local Development Corporation was
founded by residents, business owners and community groups to rebuild
Chinatown after the terrorist attacks of September 11th; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception, this remarkable organization has been an
overwhelmingly successful endeavor, accomplishing such neighborhood
improvements as getting streets cleaned, and storefronts washed and
painted; its efforts have drawn thousands of visitors to the area and
increased the prosperity of local businesses; and
WHEREAS, Today, the Chinatown Partnership Local Development Corpo-
ration continues to engage the community by leading efforts to improve
the neighborhood's physical environment through such programs as the
Clean Streets initiative, streetscape improvements, enhanced lighting,
and way-finding projects; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Chinatown Partnership Local Development
Corporation is in direct correlation to the efforts of its members,
whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impres-
sive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard
of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the
residents of the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Chinatown Partner-
ship Local Development Corporation; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Chinatown Partnership Local Development Corporation upon the
occasion of celebrating its 8th Annual Benefit and Award Gala, and to
pay tribute to its 2015 honorees; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Chinatown Partnership Local Development Corporation, and
the aforementioned honorees.
