LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 125th Anniversary of Keuka
College to be feted with a year-long celebration
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those institutions of true purpose and high achievement whose
exemplary programs and accomplishments clearly demonstrate an enduring
pursuit of excellence in higher education for the youth of this noble
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commemorate the
125th Anniversary of Keuka College, in Keuka Park, New York, to be cele-
brated with a myriad of events and celebrations planned throughout the
year; and
WHEREAS, On January 25, 2015, Keuka College will host an innovative
online initiative to celebrate the College's 125th Anniversary; a Day of
Giving will allow alumni, students, parents, and friends to come togeth-
er and support the school; and
WHEREAS, Keuka College was founded in 1890 by Founder/First President
Reverend Dr. George Harvey Hall; he envisioned a college that would
provide a high-level education to all deserving students, regardless of
economic background; and
WHEREAS, Keuka College is an independent, liberal arts-based, four-
year, residential, coeducational college which emphasizes experiential
learning, as well as, career and pre-professional education; the college
is committed to providing its students with academic excellence, and
broad educational opportunities; and
WHEREAS, Keuka College offers 31 bachelor's degree programs on its
home campus, many with specialized concentrations, there are also 27
minor degrees and self-designed major degrees; in addition, the college
offers seven master's degree programs and pre-professional programs in
dentistry, law, medicine, veterinary medicine, optometry, pharmacy, and
physical therapy; and
WHEREAS, Volunteerism has always been a priority of the Keuka College
community; in 2014, students rushed to the aid of their neighbors during
a devastating flood; they invested more than 1,000 selfless hours over
three days to assist the residents of Penn Yan; and
WHEREAS, Today, under the visionary guidance of President Jorge L.
Diaz-Herrera, Ph.D., Keuka College stands proud and prominent, always
looking to the future and the needs of those it serves; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 125th Anniversary of Keuka College, noting the propriety
of its goals, the constancy of its commitment and the significance of
its accomplishments in preparing the youth of today and leaders of
tomorrow; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to President Jorge L. Diaz-Herrera, Ph.D., Keuka College.
