LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the German Festival in Buffalo, New
York, on September 5-6, 2015
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
those organizations of true purpose and worthy accomplishment which
foster a spirit of community and service and, simultaneously, work dili-
gently to preserve their rich cultural heritage; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the German Festival at the Cheektowaga Town Park, Buffalo, New
York, on September 5-6, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Nearly 5,000 people from across the Greater Buffalo-Niagara
region with cultural roots reaching back to the countries of Austria,
Germany, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland will join together to celebrate
their German Heritage and Gemutlichkeit on Labor Day Weekend 2015; and
WHEREAS, The Federation of German American Societies of Buffalo, New
York and Vicinity is an organization of 12 cultural groups all dedicated
to the mission of preserving, promoting, and advancing within American
society the traditional culture of German lands; and
WHEREAS, This vital organization strives to facilitate collaboration
among member organizations and to collectively promote and foster
relationships throughout the Greater Buffalo-Niagara area; member organ-
izations include: The Bavarian Singers, The Bergholz Blaskapelle, The
Buffalo-Dortmund Sister City Society, The Buffalo Schwaben Chor, The
Buffalo Zither Club, Club Lorelei, The Cremation Society, The German
American Musicians Assoc., The Kolping Society, S.G.T.V. Edelweiss
Schuhplattler Gruppe, Sport Club Germania, and Spring Garden Associ-
ation; and
WHEREAS, Cultural traditions are so very important; whether it is
food, drink, literature, dance, music, or just fellowship, life is
simply better by celebrating the past and the present; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body salutes all of the individuals, past
and present, who have given their time to this worthy event, noting
their commitment to enhance and improve the quality of life in their
community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the German Festival in Buffalo, New York, on September 5-6,
2015; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Federation of German American Societies of Buffalo, New
York, and Vicinity.
