LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Council of Urban Professionals for
its work in bridging the gender and minority gaps within the business
and professional worlds

WHEREAS, A great community is only as great as those persons and organ-
izations that provide exemplary service, whether through participation
in voluntary programs, through unique personal achievement in their
profession or other endeavors, or simply through a lifetime of good
citizenship; and
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Council of Urban Professionals for its work in bridging the gender
and minority gaps within the business and professional worlds; and
WHEREAS, The Council of Urban Professionals seeks to connect, empower,
and mobilize the next generation of community leaders through over 60
annual leadership programs and skill development workshops; and
WHEREAS, Since 2007, this esteemed organization has worked to
strengthen leadership opportunities for high performing professionals of
color and women; and
WHEREAS, Today, the Council of Urban Professionals continues to work
tirelessly to bridge the gender and minority gaps within the business
and professional worlds; it will continue to empower and uplift communi-
ties of color for many years to come; and
WHEREAS, The success of the Council of Urban Professionals is in
direct correlation to the efforts of its members, whose involvement is,
and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an
unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in
all endeavors on behalf of this organization and the urban professional
community it proudly serves; and
WHEREAS, The Council of Urban Professionals distinguished record
merits the recognition and respectful tribute of this Legislative Body;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Council of Urban Professionals for its work in bridging the
gender and minority gaps within the business and professional worlds;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Council of Urban Professionals.
