LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION celebrating the life and accomplishments of
Elizabeth Kelly

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is deeply moved to inscribe upon its
records this remembrance of Elizabeth Kelly, a young woman of incredible
perseverance whose fortitude and optimism were greater than any personal
hardship she faced; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to celebrate
the life and accomplishments of Elizabeth Kelly; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Kelly, of Patchogue, New York, died on December 22,
2010, at the age of 19; and
WHEREAS, A 2009 graduate of St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School
in West Islip, Elizabeth Kelly was a freshman at Stony Brook University
and member of the Division 1 Swim Team; and
WHEREAS, A member of the National Honor Society, Elizabeth Kelly was
able to balance her academics, athletics and community activities with
precision and excellence; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Kelly's commitment to excellence, and her spirit of
humanity, carried over into all endeavors; her memory will remain in the
hearts of all those who had the honor of knowing her; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Kelly is survived by her loving parents, Thomas and
Patricia Kelly, and her sister, Catherine Kelly; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Elizabeth Kelly leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and remain as a comfort to her family and to
all she befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
celebrate the life and accomplishments of Elizabeth Kelly; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Elizabeth Kelly.
