LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Dream Factory of Rochester, Inc.
upon the occasion of celebrating its 17th Anniversary and the fulfill-
ment of over 200 Dreams
WHEREAS, The Dream Factory of Rochester is a local, volunteer organiza-
tion that fulfills dreams for children diagnosed with critical or chron-
ic illnesses; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to bring just recog-
nition to those organizations and individuals from the State of New York
who epitomize the essence of community service and who, through their
actions, have immeasurably improved the lives of others; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Dream Factory of Rochester, Inc. upon the occasion of its 17th Anni-
versary and the fulfillment of over 200 dreams; and
WHEREAS, At this most auspicious occasion the Dream Factory of Roches-
ter will also recognize its volunteers and founders and honor their
vision, compassion, dedication and contributions over the past 17 years;
and
WHEREAS, The Dream Factory of Rochester is a non-profit organization
which fulfills dreams for critically and chronically ill children, ages
3-18; this national organization was established in Louisville,
Kentucky, in 1980, and now has more than 35 chapters across the country;
and
WHEREAS, The Rochester chapter was founded in 1998, and fulfilled its
first dream in 1999; four extraordinary women, Laura Walitsky, Linda
Connolly, Lisa Caruso and Dr. Catherine Goodfellow, were instrumental in
the formation of the Rochester chapter; their unwavering commitment to
the community has resulted in an average of 10 dreams being fulfilled
each year; and
WHEREAS, In July of 2015, the Dream Factory of Rochester surpassed 200
dreams when they held a Quinceanera party for a 15-year old girl with
multiple sclerosis; today, under the leadership of Area Director Laura
Walitsky, this vital group and its energetic volunteers are working on
their 207th dream; and
WHEREAS, Through its most unique and exemplary programs, the Dream
Factory of Rochester and all those associated with it, demonstrate a
care and concern for the dignity and quality of life for others, espe-
cially children, our most cherished citizens, which merits the highest
commendation of this Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Dream Factory of Rochester, Inc. upon the occasion of cele-
brating its 17th Anniversary and the fulfillment of over 200 dreams; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Laura Walitsky, Area Director, the Dream Factory of Roches-
ter, Inc.
