LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Coach Ron Naclerio upon the occa-
sion of celebrating his 723rd career victory, and setting a new PSAL
record for most career wins as Head Coach of the Benjamin N. Cardozo
High School Boys Basketball Team

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to act, in accordance
with its long-standing traditions, to commend notable educators and
athletic coaches who serve the youth of this great Empire State, and who
have distinguished themselves and their schools through outstanding
commitment and exemplary athletic achievement; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Coach Ron Naclerio upon the occasion of celebrating his 723rd
career victory, and setting a new PSAL record for most career wins as
Head Coach of the Benjamin N. Cardozo High School Boys Basketball Team;
and
WHEREAS, Coach Ron Naclerio achieved this historic milestone when his
Benjamin N. Cardozo Judges basketball team defeated Francis Lewis High
School by a score of 88-72 at home on Tuesday, December 1, 2015; and
WHEREAS, For the past 34 years, Coach Ron Naclerio has superbly
mentored and guided young athletes to success on and off the basketball
court, becoming one of the most respected coaches in any sport through-
out the New York metropolitan area; and
WHEREAS, Since taking over as Head Coach at Benjamin N. Cardozo High
School during the 1981-82 season, this esteemed leader has won two PSAL
titles, in 1999 and 2014, and helped four of his players realize their
dreams of playing in the NBA; he has also coached numerous players in
summer leagues and camps who have gone on to play professional basket-
ball; and
WHEREAS, Ron Naclerio's intense passion for coaching, selfless commit-
ment, and caring concern have contributed to his enduring success as a
coach and mentor, earning him the just respect and admiration of his
community, his peers, and the athletes he has so ably coached; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations, to
congratulate Coach Ron Naclerio upon the occasion of celebrating his
723rd career victory, and setting a new PSAL record for most career wins
as Head Coach of the Benjamin N. Cardozo High School Boys Basketball
Team; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Coach Ron Naclerio.
