LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Howard and Bush Foundation upon
the occasion of its designation as recipient of the 2016 Community Hero
Award by Unity House of Troy, New York

WHEREAS, Organizations and individuals who give of their time, energies
and resources and serve the best interests of their communities are an
asset beyond remuneration and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Howard and
Bush Foundation upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of the
2016 Community Hero Award to be celebrated on Friday, February 12, 2016,
at the Unity House of Troy Gala at Pat's Barn, Rensselaer Technology
Park, Rensselaer, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Community Hero Award recognizes the achievements, commit-
ment and dedication of organizations and individuals who go above and
beyond for their community, performing acts of goodwill and kindness;
and
WHEREAS, Howard and Bush Foundation, a Troy-based charitable organiza-
tion, provides grants to help groups in the community; and
WHEREAS, Unity House of Troy has partnered with Howard and Bush Foun-
dation in improving both Troy and Rensselaer County, most recently
receiving the Foundation's support in building the Unity House Front
Door Community Center; and
WHEREAS, Howard and Bush Foundation has funded several Capital Region
organizations including the Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company, The Sanctuary
for Independent Media, Brunswick Community Library, St. Peter's, Troy
Savings Bank Music Hall, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as well as
Sage Colleges of Troy; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an organ-
ization for the benefit of others which Howard and Bush Foundation has
displayed; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Howard and Bush Foundation upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the 2016 Community Hero Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Howard and Bush Foundation.
