LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the distinguished career of barber
Anthony Mancinelli on his 105th Birthday
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to celebrate the career of
barber Anthony Mancinelli and to honor his grooming skills; and
WHEREAS, Anthony Mancinelli was born on March 2, 1911, in Italy, and
will soon celebrate his 105th Birthday; and
WHEREAS, Anthony Mancinelli, who was married to his wife, Carmella,
for 69 years until her passing in 2004, resides in New Windsor in Orange
County, New York; and
WHEREAS, At the young age of 12, Anthony Mancinelli started cutting
hair; today, he is considered a master barber and generations of custom-
ers have relied on his steady hands for more than 90 years; and
WHEREAS, THE GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS has certified that Anthony
Mancinelli is the oldest working barber in the world; and
WHEREAS, Anthony Mancinelli's hands are still nimble, his mind still
sharp and his smile still gracious; he enjoys talking to people and
believes that is the best part of his job; and
WHEREAS, He also believes that cutting hair all these years has kept
him young and he has no plans to retire; and
WHEREAS, Anthony Mancinelli's zest for life inspires customers and
non-customers alike; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable barber, who used to have his own barbershop
on Liberty Street in Newburgh, now works at Fantastic Cuts in New Wind-
sor; and
WHEREAS, A veteran of World War II, Anthony Mancinelli has been the
Grand Marshal of New Windsor's Memorial Day Parade six times; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body should give special recognition to one
whose name has become synonymous with cutting hair; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
proudly commemorate the distinguished career of Anthony Mancinelli; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Anthony Mancinelli.
