MEMORIALIZING Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim
March 13-19, 2017, as Brain Awareness Week in the
State of New York

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize
official weeks that are set aside to increase awareness of serious
health issues which affect the lives of citizens of New York State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim March 13-19, 2017, as
Brain Awareness Week in the State of New York, in conjunction with the
observance of National Brain Awareness Week; and

WHEREAS, Brain Awareness Week (BAW) is the global campaign to
increase public awareness of the progress and benefits of brain
research; and

WHEREAS, Each year, BAW unites the efforts of partner organizations
worldwide in a celebration of the brain for people of all ages;
activities include open days at neuroscience labs, exhibitions about the
brain, lectures on brain-related topics, social media campaigns,
displays at libraries and community centers, classroom workshops and
more; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to help increase
awareness of serious health issues which affect the lives of citizens of
New York State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim March 13-19, 2017, as
Brain Awareness Week in the State of New York; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of
New York.
