MEMORIALIZING Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim
March 5-11, 2017, as Festival of Owls Week in the
State of New York

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize
official weeks that are set aside to increase awareness of events which
affect the lives of citizens of New York State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim March 5-11, 2017, as
Festival of Owls Week in the State of New York, in conjunction with the
observance of International Festival of Owls Week; and

WHEREAS, Each year, the International Festival of Owls takes place
in Houston, Minnesota, in recognition of a Great Horned Owl named Alice;
and

WHEREAS, The renowned festival includes activities for people of all
ages such as, live owls on site, owl-themed crafts, nest box building,
vendors and bird watching; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to help increase
awareness of events which affect the lives of citizens of New York
State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim March 5-11, 2017, as
Festival of Owls Week in the State of New York; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of
New York.
