COMMENDING Astrid Fidelia upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the National
Action Network, West Nassau Chapter on March 26,
2017
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Astrid
Fidelia upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by
the National Action Network, West Nassau Chapter to be celebrated at its
Dreams of Greatness Gala on Sunday, March 26, 2017, at Westbury Manor in
Westbury, New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award is given to individuals who have
demonstrated exemplary work, services, and commitment to the people of
their communities; Astrid Fidelia deserves this honor for her
contributions to her neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, The West Nassau Chapter, under the able leadership of
District Chairperson, Pastor Emmanuel Asse, continues the mission of NAN
which fulfills a vital role in moving our Nation forward; and
WHEREAS, A Haitian Creole Translator, Astrid Fidelia works for the
Immigration Clinic with Haitian Americans United for Change; as a member
of the Islandia Central Islip Rotary, she partnered with HAUC and the
Long Island Coalition for Haiti to supply shelter boxes and water for
victims of Hurricane Matthew; and
WHEREAS, In her role as President of HAPAC, Astrid Fidelia organized
a business networking event/trade show for Haitian small businesses at
Chez Mireille Restaurant, the Haitian American Families of Long Island
(HAFALI) Free Community Health Fair, and the Reviving Haiti/YAM Resource
Group Free Community Health Fair; and
WHEREAS, Proud of her heritage, Astrid Fidelia also planned the
Haitian Flag Day Celebration for three years, and both the Haitian
Dominican Denationalization and the Reviving/Haiti/ICGC Geodesign Forum;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Astrid Fidelia upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the National Action Network, West Nassau Chapter; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Astrid Fidelia.
