COMMENDING Soma Syed upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the National
Action Network, West Nassau Chapter on March 26,
2017

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Soma Syed
upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the
National Action Network, West Nassau Chapter to be celebrated at its
Dreams of Greatness Gala on Sunday, March 26, 2017, at Westbury Manor in
Westbury, New York; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious award is given to individuals who have
demonstrated exemplary work, services, and commitment to the people of
their communities; Soma Syed deserves this honor for her contributions
to her neighborhood; and

WHEREAS, The West Nassau Chapter, under the able leadership of
District Chairperson, Pastor Emmanuel Asse, continues the mission of NAN
which fulfills a vital role in moving our Nation forward; and

WHEREAS, Soma Syed is a New York civil litigation and transactional
attorney with more than 12 years of experience; she is the principal of
the Forest Hills based law firm, Soma Syed & Associates, where she
represents multi-faceted clients in all aspects of real estate law and
foreclosure defense, business and corporate law, bankruptcy law,
matrimonial and family law, immigration law, non-profits law and
elections law; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to giving back
to civic participation, Soma Syed has provided seminars at local
libraries on landlord and tenant law; in addition, she has given of her
time and energies to the Volunteer Lawyers program in Housing, the
Queens Volunteer Lawyers Project and the New York State Bar Association;
and

WHEREAS, Soma Syed holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the City
College of the City University, as well as a Juris Doctor degree from
the Albany Law School of the Union University; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Soma Syed upon the occasion of her designation for special

recognition by the National Action Network, West Nassau Chapter; and be
it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Soma Syed.
