HONORING Ellen Sax upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by Trinity
Alliance of the Capital Region on April 20, 2017

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, Ellen Sax has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Ellen Sax
upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by Trinity
Alliance of the Capital Region, to be celebrated at its Annual Gala
Celebration, Time, Tradition, Trinity, on Thursday, April 20, 2017, at
the New York State Museum, Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, Called upon to contribute her time and talents to countless
civic and charitable endeavors, Ellen Sax has always given of herself
unstintingly; and

WHEREAS, Ellen Sax joined MVP Health Care in February 2014, as the
Director of Corporate Social Responsibility, and just two years later
she was promoted to Vice President of Community Engagement; and

WHEREAS, In addition to developing and implementing MVP's
philanthropic focus, Ellen Sax is responsible for expanding the
company's presence in the community through charitable giving, employee
engagement and partnerships with nonprofit organizations and community
groups; and

WHEREAS, Prior to joining MVP Health Care, Ellen Sax served as the
Vice President of Community Relations for KeyBank N.A.'s Capital Region;
in this capacity she was responsible for directing Key's charitable
giving, expanding Key's visibility by partnering with local nonprofit
organizations and community groups to enhance their capacity building,
serving as a resource for fund development and providing advice and
guidance on strategic issues; and

WHEREAS, Ellen Sax holds a Bachelor of Science degree in
Rehabilitation Counseling Services from Syracuse University; she went on
to earn a Master's of Public Administration degree from the Maxwell
School of Citizenship, as well as a Master of Science degree in
Rehabilitation Counseling from Syracuse University; and

WHEREAS, An active member of the community, Ellen Sax currently
serves as Past Chair for the Community Foundation of the Greater Capital
Region and as a Trustee for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation Upstate
Northeastern New York Chapter; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, this esteemed woman serves on a variety of
committees including: Founding member and Steering Committee member for

the Capital Region Creative Economy Project, Gala chair and committee
member for the CCFA Evening to Remember Gala, The College of St. Rose
Community of Excellence, WAMS Luncheon Committee, mentor for the Tech
Valley Young Professional Network, Steering Committee for the Tech
Valley Nonprofit Business Council, member of the Vale Park Task Force
and honorary chair for Girls Inc.'s 27th Annual Dinner and Auction; and

WHEREAS, The proud recipient of numerous awards and accolades, Ellen
Sax has been recognized by Women Against MS with the Community
Achievement Award, Women in Public Service, Center for Women in
Government and Civil Society, The Stakeholders' Community Mentor Award
and the Inspirational Leadership Award from the Crohn's and Colitis
Foundation; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Ellen Sax has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Ellen Sax, that future generations may know and appreciate her admirable
character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and esteem in
which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ellen Sax upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by Trinity Alliance of the Capital Region on April 20, 2017;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Ellen Sax.
