HONORING Pastor David Traynham upon the occasion
of his designation for special recognition by
Trinity Alliance of the Capital Region on April 20,
2017
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Pastor David Traynham has given not only of his time and
energies but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Pastor David
Traynham upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by
Trinity Alliance of the Capital Region, to be celebrated at its Annual
Gala Celebration, Time, Tradition, Trinity, on Thursday, April 20, 2017,
at the New York State Museum, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Pastor David Traynham has been called upon to contribute
his time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Albany, New York, Pastor David
Traynham established the New Horizons Christian Church in 1990, where he
has tirelessly sought education and workforce development services for
the parishioners of his congregation; and
WHEREAS, Pastor David Traynham was elected as the President of the
Albany Chapter of the NAACP in 2017; he has also been involved with
Trinity Alliance for many years, and sits on the Advisory Board of the
Capital South Campus Center, as well as on the hiring panels of two
anti-violence programs: Albany Cure Violence, and Leaders Leading Troy's
Youth; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to the Albany
community, Pastor David Traynham serves on the Albany Law Enforcement
Assisted Diversion (LEAD) Policy Making Team; in addition, he is the
founder of the Albany Law Enforcement Reconciliation Team (ALERT), which
was established to bridge the gap between community and law enforcement;
and
WHEREAS, A true asset to his community, Pastor David Traynham serves
as the Spiritual Care Advisor for Northern Rivers Family Services, and
did Chaplaincy work for the New York Football Giants from 2001 to 2015;
and
WHEREAS, This esteemed man is also a member of the Workforce
Development Committee for Hudson Valley Community College, the Board of
Directors for the Albany County Land Bank Corporation, the Network of
Local Churches, and the Albany African American Clergy United for
Empowerment (TAAACUFE); and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Brenda, and their
two children, Kantrell and Tyese, as well as three grandsons, Andre,
Richard and Romario, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his
life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Pastor David Traynham has
displayed throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Pastor David Traynham, that future generations may know and appreciate
his admirable character, his many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which he is held by his peers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Pastor David Traynham upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by Trinity Alliance of the Capital Region on April
20, 2017; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Pastor David Traynham.
