COMMEMORATING the 10th Anniversary of World
Journalism Preparatory School on April 7, 2017
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those institutions and their leadership whose true purpose and
faithful endeavors contribute significantly to the education and
preparation of the youth who will comprise the future, strength and
vision of this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 10th Anniversary of World Journalism Preparatory School,
to be recognized at its Anniversary Celebration and Community Leadership
Breakfast on Friday, April 7, 2017, in Flushing, New York; and
WHEREAS, Established in September of 2006, World Journalism
Preparatory School (WJPS) serves as a grade 6-12 public school in
Flushing, New York; and
WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission, World Journalism Preparatory
School prepares each of its students for success in college and life
through the power and control of language, as well as for full
participation in the global community and American democracy; and
WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Principal Janine Polla Werner,
World Journalism Preparatory School has an impressive legacy and many
successes to build on as it strives to engage its students in meaningful
learning, preparing them for the challenges of the 21st Century; and
WHEREAS, World Journalism Preparatory School works collaboratively
to bring out the very best in its students, leading them towards
becoming positive and productive community members; and
WHEREAS, Through its long and sustained commitment to excellence in
educational endeavor, the World Journalism Preparatory School has so
clearly advanced that spirit of united purpose and shared concern which
is the unalterable manifestation of our American experience; and
WHEREAS, In carrying out its mission, the World Journalism
Preparatory School has so effectively contributed to the academic
excellence of the citizens of New York; and
WHEREAS, The schools of a community mirror the character and values
of the society in which they function; the residents, Board of
Education, administration, faculty and students of World Journalism
Preparatory School may justifiably take great pride in its past
achievements, present recognition and legacy of excellence afforded to
future generations of the community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the World Journalism Preparatory
School, noting the propriety of its goals, the constancy of its
commitment and the significance of its accomplishments in preparing the
youth of today and leaders of tomorrow; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to World Journalism Preparatory School, Flushing, New York.
