HONORING Linda Smith upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Dedicated Service
Award by the City of Tonawanda Fire Department

WHEREAS, The firefighters of New York State are renowned throughout
the Nation; their reputation is synonymous with excellence in the
arduous field of fire protection and prevention; and

WHEREAS, Our firefighters are greatly supported by the service of
dedicated individuals who volunteer their time and energies to the
efficient operation of their fire departments; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Linda Smith
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Dedicated
Service Award by the City of Tonawanda Fire Department, celebrated at
its Annual Appreciation and Awards Banquet on March 11, 2017, at the
Niawanda Park Pavilion, Tonawanda, New York; and

WHEREAS, Linda Smith has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; and

WHEREAS, A member of the City of Tonawanda Fire Department's Rehab
Squad, Linda Smith also assists the Explorer Post as an advisor and
helper; she has spent countless hours at the fire house and has been
instrumental in the success of the Department's banquet and blood
drives, most notably the Red-for-Jed blood drive; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Linda Smith has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Linda Smith has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Linda Smith, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Linda Smith upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Dedicated Service Award by the City of Tonawanda Fire Department;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Linda Smith.
